Ok, one little thing has been bothering me recently, I see a lot of people touting around about their freedom of speech and whatnot (pagan tag, I’m looking at you) but I honestly don’t think a lot of you really get what that actually is. Having freedom of speech does not mean you can say anything to anyone, it does not mean that no one can stop you from saying things all it means is that the government can not stop you from expressing yourself. It is protection from the government. Only. Just them. It does not mean that Rhonda can’t tell Sally to keep her opinions to herself. It is completely irrelevant to bring up in an argument with another person who is telling you to stop saying something. In all likelihood, they are not speaking from a position of power within the government at that moment. 

I can tell you to stop talking.

I can ban you from contacting me via various means.

I can kick you out of my house for saying something I don’t like.

I can encroach on your “free speech” all over the place because I am not the government. 

I’m not saying that I will, or that I have the desire to but the point is that I can and that your little “freedom of speech” defense makes me want to vomit. It’s irrelevant and you sound like an idiot. Please stop.
